ABN AMRO’s Strategic Business Development team is taking up the challenge of making our first-line lending activities future-proof, by driving the regulatory change agenda and taking on credit risk ownership for Financial Solutions. The goal? To make sure the front office can focus on clients, and to make sure that Financing Solutions operates in a regulatory compliant way.

Your job

As a Regulatory expert you will discuss regulatory topics with stakeholders and will agree on ownership of regulatory change items to make sure the business will be made future-proof. In addition, this is primarily a regulatory role within the company. You will also keep track of the progress made on these change items by periodically engaging with the stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Keeping track of regulatory developments relevant for our credit landscape;
  • Represent the business in OnSite Inspections and/or other ECB requests on behalf of Financing Solutions;
  • Oversight on regulatory requirement setting and implementation in credit processes and work instructions;
  • Engage with stakeholders in the 1st and 2nd Line of Defence to agree on ownership of regulatory change items;
  • Engage with stakeholders in the 1st and 2nd Line of Defence to follow up on regulatory change items;
  • Oversight of (potential) audit findings relevant for Financing Solutions;

Working environment

Financial Solutions is part of Corporate Banking and is the credit engine of ABN AMRO. We advise clients from all segments on the solution that best suits them, including standardised as well as expertise-driven solutions.
Strategic Business Development is a new and growing department within Financial Solutions, and its role is to ensure lending products and credit processes are compliant with regulations. As part of the Regulatory Management & Control team, you’ll work closely with colleagues in Corporate Banking, Credit Risk, Processes & Control, Central Portfolio Management, as well as with Audit. You’ll also work with the European Central Bank and De Nederlandsche Bank as important stakeholders. Strong stakeholder management and communication are key to achieving our goals.

Your profile

You have a keen interest in lending, regulations, credit risk and change. You understand business and financial risk dynamics and have a good understanding of the lending side of banks. You thrive in a high-performance environment, and you’re a strong team player. 

What’s more: 

  • You are proactive, organised and entrepreneurial; 
  • You have experience with bank policies and regulations in the field of credit risk;
  • You are able to see relevant links between topics that come to the team from different directions;
  • You have good stakeholder management;
  • You have good communication skills (both writing and verbal);
  • You have a strongly developed risk mindset e.g. first line of defence principle;
  • You have at least 5+ years experience;
  • You are fluent in English and/or Dutch (writing and verbally)
  • You are eager to learn.

  • The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on Hay 11, 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
  • The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
  • Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
  • Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
