Financing Solutions (FS) is the Lending unit of ABN AMRO Corporate Banking (CB) where all Lending offerings and expertise are clustered. The Lending unit provides (structured) lending products to new and existing corporate clients domestically and internationally. In close collaboration with other product-teams of FS and Risk Management, Lending is responsible from origination until documentation, for structuring complex tailor-made bilateral- and syndicated financing solutions for clients and is the ‘first-line of defence’ in the credit risk assessment based on (credit) experience and specific client- and sector knowledge. In addition, Corporate Lending is responsible for monitoring the existing client portfolio.
The Associate Lender will be positioned in the international dedicated Shortsea Shipping & Intermodal Lending team which is part of the Shipping Lending department and reports to the Head of Lending Shortsea Shipping & Intermodal.
Your job
As an Associate in the international Shortsea Shipping & Intermodal Lending Team you will work in close cooperation with senior lenders in managing the portfolio of Shortsea Shipping & Intermodal related lending transactions in North West Europe. You will be part of Client Service Teams (CST) which are multiple product teams that are coordinated by the coverage banker to tackle client questions and develop commercial propositions. Together with senior lenders, you will be involved in the origination and execution of deals including pitching to clients, writing credit applications, structuring transactions, reviewing and negotiating credit documentation, and coordination with external advisors (legal, technical, insurance, markets) and a variety of internal stakeholders. In addition, the function includes the monitoring of the existing portfolio of (debt) transactions and contribution to a wide variety of internal projects within the larger Shipping & Intermodal department.

You will be working with ~10 professionals working within Lending focussing on Shortsea Shipping & Intermodal clients. We work closely together ensuring that our portfolio has a balanced credit profile and grows in a sustainable way. We ensure our clients are serviced optimally within set internal/external parameters. Part of your job is to coach and develop Team members including trainees and interns.
You shall be working primarily in Amsterdam (albeit working from home is supported). We work in an open floor space on the Gustav Mahlerlaan, where we have all stakeholders in our vicinity (Coverage, Risk, Products, Sustainability etc).
Your profile
We are looking for a finance specialist with former client facing, risk management or credit structuring experience. Check your profile:
• Education: completed Master Degree or comparable
• Up to 3 years of experience (in a client facing type of role)
• A positive mindset and can-do mentality. Commercial focus on results, fun and teamwork
• Knowledge of international credit process (incl. credit application/processing/ monitoring)
• Knowledge of Shortsea Shipping and Intermodal markets is a plus
• Solid knowledge of Excel and other ICT applications which support the commercial process
• Attention to detail and consistently striving for the highest quality output
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and contribute to the performance and development of the team
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time to the Head Office in Amsterdam
• Fluent in Dutch and English
